Our Pekin campus produces products destined for Health, Home& Beauty; Food and Beverage; Industry & Agriculture; Essential Ingredients; and Renewable Fuels markets. All personnel are responsible for the safety of these products, which includes participation in training, following cGMP and feed/food safety requirements in the facility, and following procedures per instruction of management.
Job Purpose: This position will be responsible for the set up and analysis of samples, verifying accuracy of their results, entering results into database and reporting them to the respective managers.
The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management may modify this job description as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Independently perform instrumental and wet chemistry analyses of various samples.
- Interpret results of the analyses, ensuring their accuracy and applying them to the systems from which the samples came or the standards the samples are to meet to verify that the data makes sense.
- Data entry and reporting.
- Calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Interact with various departments and prioritize the importance of their requests.
- Support the overall plant operation by providing accurate, timely data and being able to explain what the data means in relationship to the process.
- Work with various regulatory and compliance groups and personnel in relation to the results of the analysis preformed.
- Write, modify and follow standard operating procedures, as well as approved methodologies for testing.
- Responsible for verifying the identity and approval for use of various raw materials to be used in the process.
- Responsible for the final quality approval / certification of finished products.
Position Requirements:
- 4-year college degree in scientific related field.
- 1-2 years practical laboratory instrumentation experience (HPLC, GC) preferred
- Industrial / Processing plant experience preferred
- Team player
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Adept at learning new processes
- Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in cold to hot temperatures; work around dust, fumes, and/or moderate to loud noises; works inside and/or outside;
- Able to lift, pull, carry, and pick-up average to heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds;
- Able to climb stairs and ladders; walk on paved and unpaved surfaces; sit at a desk and operate a computer and keyboard; visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear, speak, and understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, bend, stoop, stand, and reach;
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
