Ph.D. Scientist II Compounding

Location: Kulpsville, PA (Greater Philadelphia Area)

What Youll Do

  • Lead compound development projects aligned with customer needs, new markets, and regulatory shifts.

  • Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies to solve complex formulation and manufacturing challenges.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure material solutions meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals.

  • Mentor technicians and junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.

  • Drive technical communication, including internal strategy, customer presentations, and conference participation.

  • Contribute to the companys IP strategy through invention disclosures, patents, and publications.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (M.S. with strong experience will be considered).

  • 5+ years of industry experience in compounding, with proven success in new product development and commercialization.

  • Expertise in polymerfiller systems, crosslinking mechanisms, and material characterization.

  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing processes, including injection, transfer, and compression molding.

  • Proficiency in DOE and RCA; Six Sigma certification is a plus.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a proven track record in cross-functional collaboration.

  • Track record of publications including patents, journal articles, industry standards.

  • Membership of industrial or scientific organizations such as SAE, ASTM, ACS, AICHE.

  • Can-do attitude and team player is a must.
